Frequently Asked Questions
We are very happy to contact your former classmates on your behalf, but due to data protection regulations, we cannot pass any contact information to you.
You can search our alumni directory to find people from your department and year of graduation.
Other ways to get in touch with your former classmates are via LinkedIn or Facebook. The University has an alumni LinkedIn group with over 13,500 members who you will be able to contact directly if you join the group.
The new Strathclyde Students' Union space is located in the Learning and Teaching Building at 51 Richmond Street, and alumni are welcome to enquire about booking a space for drinks and/or food as part of their reunion planning.
The original Students' Union at John Street is permanently closed, and it is not possible to access this building.
The University is engaged in an ambitious campus development plan, with investment set to reach £1 billion by 2025 to create a vibrant, dynamic and re-focused campus in the heart of Glasgow. New buildings include the Technology and Innovation Centre (2015), Strathclyde Sport (2018), and the Learning and Teaching Building (2022).
As part of these developments some buildings have been vacated over the years:
- Turnbull building - closed in 2013
- Baird hall - closed as student accommodation in 2003
- Ramshorn - closed as University drama centre in 2011
- Jordanhill campus - closed in 2012
- Lord Todd bar - closed in 2020
Unfortunately, we will not be able to arrange any campus tours or visits to any of these buildings.
Accommodation
The University's Campus Village offers room only, bed & breakfast and self-catering flats from mid-June to mid-September for groups of minimum 30 people. Ross Priory, on the banks of Loch Lomond, has year round bed & breakfast and self-catering accommodation available exclusively to staff and graduates. Glasgow has an abundance of hotels, bed & breakfasts and serviced apartments. While we can’t compile a full list of options you may want to look at booking.com, tripadvisor.co.uk, trivago.co.uk or expedia.co.uk for inspiration on where to stay during your visit to Glasgow.
Activities and Sights
Whether you are looking for an activity for your entire class or are looking to explore the city in a smaller group, there is always something to do in Glasgow. For inspiration we suggest that you have a look at TripAdvisor, What’s on Glasgow or The List.
Restaurants and Bars
Glasgow’s restaurants and bars are forever changing with new exciting places popping up all the time. We use TripAdvisor, GlasgowLive or 5pm to stay updated and recommend that you do the same.
