This content type creates individual news blocks which provide a brief overview of the news article and can link to a news page. The width and background colour of the news block is customisable, and the content type fills the width of the screen.
Content type fields
Name - This is a mandatory field. You must give the content type an appropriate name that corresponds with your content, for example Technology feature. The name is not shown on the live web page.
Title - If you would like to display a title above the news block, enter this here. It outputs within <h2> tags (heading level 2). Read more about heading levels in our A to Z style guide.
Headline - This is a mandatory field. Enter a headline for the news story here. This will display as bold text in the news block. It outputs within <h3> tags (heading level 3). Read more about heading levels in our A to Z style guide.
Summary - This is a mandatory field. If you have a news summary, enter this here. It will appear below the headline.
URL - This field is used to link the text and image to a page within the Strathclyde website. To do this, click on Select. Then using the site structure navigate to the page you want to link to and click on it.
URL-alt - This field is used to link the text and image to an external website, for example, https://www.bbc.co.uk. Don't use this field to link to pages with the Strathclyde website. To add a link just enter the full URL of the page you want to link to including https://.
Media - If your news block should link to a document in the T4 media library, such as a PDF, choose this here.
You should only use one of the link fields (URL, URL-alt or Media). Only one should be used. If it’s a Strathclyde webpage this should be done as a URL section link. If it’s an external webpage this should be done as URL-alt. If it’s a file in the t4 media library this should be Media.
Publication Date - If you would like to display a publication date in the news block, enter this here.
Colour - This is a mandatory field. Choose a background colour for the news block.
Width - This is a mandatory field. Choose a width for the news block. When displaying news blocks together, they may be grouped in columns depending on the block width.
